What is a digital twin for a factory?

  1. Walk through your whole site in 360°

Your teams and contractors move through every workshop, every plant room and every walkway from a simple web browser.

  2. Work on a BIM model accurate to the centimetre

The LiDAR survey captures the geometry of the existing building to the centimetre. The design office turns it into a BIM model from LOD 200 to LOD 350 depending on the project phase, with plans and sections.

  3. Find every piece of data in its place

Every document and every equipment record is filed by site, building and level, at the exact spot it applies to.

Why choose a digital twin for your factory?

01

Have your factory surveyed without moving a thing

Since it was built, your factory has taken in new machines, moved partitions and rebuilt services. Its original plans are therefore wrong. A manual survey would tie up your teams for days. With a 3D scan, a single visit is enough and you get a centimetre-level survey of the existing building while work carries on.

02

Install a new line with no nasty surprises

Without a reliable plan, the design office draws on rough dimensions. The real footprint of a machine then comes to light during installation, with rework and a schedule that slips. With a BIM model of the existing building, every contractor prices and sets out from the same base, and your project keeps to its dates.

Plan maintenance jobs from your desk

Every job starts with a site walk, with a contractor who has to be escorted through the workshops. Over time, your teams lose hours to it and production is disrupted. In the digital twin, the contractor locates the equipment and takes its measurements remotely, then arrives ready to work.

What does your digital twin do in your factory?

Measuring tool open in a virtual tour on a technician's screen

Plan your technical shutdowns from the methods office

The technician finds the machine in the tour, takes a measurement and opens its manual. They go down to the shop floor with the right part and the right tools, and the line only stops for as long as the job takes. Accurate measurements and attached documents are available as à la carte options.

  • Locate the machine before going onto the shop floor
  • Open its manual and plans in the right place
  • Take a measurement without stopping the line

Your questions about digital twins for factories

Here is what we are asked most often before scanning an industrial site.

  • How much does a factory digital twin cost?

The price depends on the surface area, the number of buildings and levels, and the deliverables you choose. Each agency in the network sets its own prices freely. The proposal from the agency in your area is the one that applies.

  • Do you have to stop production during the scan?

The scan is done in a single visit, without moving anything, while work carries on. Restricted-access areas are captured following your safety instructions, agreed before the visit.

  • How accurate is the 3D scan survey?

The survey is carried out with a Matterport 360° camera fitted with a LiDAR sensor. It gives centimetre-level accuracy, with a scan point every 1 to 3 m. The BIM model is built from LOD 200 to LOD 350 depending on the project phase, and beyond that on quotation.

  • Which formats is the BIM model delivered in?

The BIM model comes in IFC and RVT, delivered together and ready for Revit, ArchiCAD or AutoCAD. Plans, sections and the roof plan come in DWG and PDF at 1:100, and the point cloud in e57.

  • What is the difference between a 360° virtual tour and a digital twin?

The 360° virtual tour is the part you can walk through. The digital twin adds the point cloud, the BIM model and the data attached to each space and each piece of equipment.

  • Can you survey several industrial sites to the same level of detail?

Yes. Each site gets the same scope and the same deliverable, organised in a tree of sites, buildings and levels. The 36 agencies in the network cover the whole country.
